Week 14- The Beginning
Week 14- The Beginning
Being 14 weeks pregnant with a 7 month old, you can imagine the worries that lie ahead. But, I am trying to stay positive, eat healthy and plan accordingly. This pregnancy is similar to my first, no vomiting, naseau or other negative side effects. But, not even half way through this pleasant journey I've gained about 10 pounds. With my first daughter, Annabelle Marleigh, I gained about 60 pounds. And only managed to lose about 40 pounds of that baby weight. So, I am already starting off quite a bit heavier than last time. Weight management has never been an easy task for me. So, as an easy start I've completely cut out FAST FOOD. That was about 12 days ago. An all except for a mochachino from Wendy's (probably ridiculously high in calories and sugar) I've done very well. This means no greasy burgers, fries, blizzards, milk shakes or taco's. This has not been easy, especially since I love many of these foods and so does my husband. He has worse food craving than I do, but somehow maintains a healthy weight. I was excited when I went to my first Doctors appointment and had lost a pound. I have always been a full figured girl, so pregnancy easily turns me into a full blown whale. My face is already getting to round for my liking. But, I know no matter how many changes my body takes on it is ALL worth it for a beautiful, healthy baby. But, I want to be healthy and live a long life for my children and my husband. I want to feel good about the decisions I make. I know I am going to gain weight, that is what pregnancy is all about but I don't want to gain unnecesarily. So, as for today, the eggo waffles were no good! But, a peice of fruit always is better than an ice cream bar! Positive note for the day, I put Annabelle in her stroller and went for an hour and half walk with my good friend and her daughter. It felt great outside and now I feel really good for getting some exercise!

Until Tomorrow!
Hey Bethany,
ReplyDeleteI was really worried about the weight gain when I found out I was pregnant with Nora - especially since I had just worked my butt off to lose 20lbs! I ended up gaining about 19lbs with my pregnancy, and that's only because I kind of gave up during the last trimester and had MORE than my fair share of chocolate cake :)
Drastic weight gain is definately not necessary - or inevitable - if you stay committed and careful about your choices! Just remember a healthy, high-protein breakfast, a light lunch, healthy dinner and a high-protein snack between meals. Things like low-fat String Cheese and raw almonds are great snacks (and easy to pack). Keep in mind, the fresher the better!
Taking walks is a great way to keep moving, especially since we're getting into the pretty weather! (I'm sure Annabelle loves it too!) Swimming, playing at the park - anything to keep active.
I'm sure you'll be fine, don't let it stress you too badly! If you slip-up, don't kill yourself over it, even if you feel guilty just use that as motivation to work harder at staying strict!
I'm always here if you have any questions and I have a ton of healthy recipes on my blog and more at home!
I know I just lost thirty from having annabelle. So, I'm just trying to think of afterward. I don't want my journey to seem overwhelming. I haven't stressed over it. The first pregnancy I just didn't worry about it at all and that was a big old mistake. I just want to be conscious of it. I think we will definitely do some swimming thi summer. Wish we lived closer so we could work out together. I think I'm going to try to find a cheap Yoga Class somewhere.
